WELCOME TO THE FREE MINI COURSE!
Wild Foraging Rules to live by:
- If in doubt, leave it out. Always be 100% certain about a plant’s identity before harvesting and eating it. Don’t rush. Take the time to observe a plant over the course of multiple seasons so that you can see the young shoots, flowers, fruits, and seeds where applicable. The LEARNING is just as fun as the EATING.
- Always forage with a friend or knowledgeable mentor who has more foraging experience than you do. Guides are great, but experienced mentors are better.
- Use multiple identification guides when foraging (in addition, of course, to your Wild Edible Plant of the Month Club binder). I’ll be sending you a list of recommended guides very soon via email.
- Harvest sustainably. Take great care to harvest sustainable so as to ensure your future harvests. Many wild edibles are considered invasive. In this case, harvest at will.
- Stay away from areas that might have been sprayed with chemicals or polluted with vehicles.
- Never eat a plant for the first time in large quantities. Allergies vary from person to person. You never know what you’ll react to, so test all new plants with conservative moderation.
